Our Story

Changing jobs. Finding a candidate. It really shouldn’t be so painful should it? 

That was the thought that led us to set up Wander in 2019. With a shared background in recruitment, travel and technology, we were sure there was a different way of doing things that’s focused on the people and brands we worked with, and what they stand for. From where we stood, things looked stale.

We wanted to tell the story of the industry we worked in – travel – to a wider audience. In doing so, we hoped to persuade a different kind of talent into the industry, and so help it to evolve. 

It went very well. Within a year, we were working with a great list of travel companies - from giant online travel agencies to cutting-edge new kids on the block - and finding work for people from all walks of life. We were getting a name, and enjoying ourselves.  But there was something that was nagging us. 

What if it wasn’t just the travel industry that could be changed by a different approach to recruitment, but other sectors as well? And what if the way that recruitment agencies themselves were operated could be done differently? 

So we started talking to people. Starts ups. Entrepreneurs. Sustainable business experts. People who championed alternative business models, like B-Corp, from all sorts of sectors - fashion, food, technology, retail…everything.

We realised two things. When we were thinking about who we want to work with, our priority are the values a business had woven into its DNA rather than the sector it sat in; and everywhere we looked, we found people trying to change how things are done to improve the people, planet and places we all share. It was exciting. We loved what we were hearing.

And it’s brought us to where we are today. 

So Wander 2.0 is going to be a different kind of recruiter. Our focus will remain on what we consider to be the world’s most valuable resource - you - but our goal is to understand less about what you can do, and more about what makes you, you. By learning what makes you tick, your values, we can find a business - in whatever sector - that shares them. 

At the same time we’ll be working on ourselves, committing to do things differently, and on a journey towards our own B-Corp accreditation.  So if you like what you’ve heard, talk to us.
